probs man. props to you.

and yeah, you could get a ds3l, e21xx, 3850/3850, (mobo, cpu and gfx respectively) and a cheaper case and with the left over money get a monitor and decent set of headphones or speakers.

A notice to EVERYONE who has posted here with a computer problem, I highly encourage you to keep current with the forums, even if it's browsing for 10-15 minutes during lunch, or before you go to bed at night. There are many things that you can learn and apply to future issues. My goal is to help people get to a point where they can use their own knowledge to help themselves, and others.

Also please use the search button. You've got a 50/50 chance that someone's asked your question and we've answered it.

I'm leaning toward the first build. He sent me pics and it looks like it is brand new. Seems like a good kid that is trying to scrape money together for a new build of his own.

I build my own machines but am so busy that I don't have time to upgrade my machine let alone build one for my son. I really appreciate all the feedback.

I will be asking some questions when it's time for me to upgrade my amd system. I was thinking of going with a E8400 with intel mobo (with ddr3 1333 support), 9800gtx, and 2-4 Gigs of DDR3 1333 Mhz memory.. I'm in the very early stage of thinking about this though...
