Removing heatsink question

hi, im trying to remove an intel pentium 4 ht 3.0 ghz cpu from my motherboard + the heatsink. the problem i am having is ther are metal clamps holding down the heatsinks fan an no matter what i do i can not release the clamps from ther grip. i was wondering what u had to do to get the two clamps to come off..thats the only problem i am having.

Alot of times your going to need a flat head screwdriver to be able to press down on the clamps and bend them outwards. You don't want to ruin the clamps, unless your replacing the fan and locking clamps. If you dont need the clamps anymore just use a pair of dykes and cut the clamps off.
