I would keep your eye on the 9800 GX2. It's a little pricey at the moment, but that price may shift very soon. Not to mention the new 9900's are coming. Actually Nvidia just announced that the 9900 series will be called GTX 260, 280.. etc.

but from what I've seen (and what Sora has told me) ATi Cards do better on that game then nVidia equivalent cards do

Although many popular games are nvidia optimized they will still work with ATI cards fine. Besides crossfire scales better than sli in general. the 3870x2 is a great deal go with it, even in the games it does worse in, it still gets great performance.

Man, just seems like the other day when people were saying crossfire scaled horribly.. ATi must have did some major updates

Crossfire has always scaled well, it's quad CF that scales badly.

..and SLI was the one that used to scale horribly, but that has changed as well

Well just the 9600gt scales well in my opinion.. the rest.. not so great
