Hello all! I read the stickies and some of the guide posts when building this computer, however this is my first custom computer I'm building and I still find a lot of the tech information very overwhelming. So please feel free to pointout flaws, tweaks, anywhere you see money being wasted for little to no performance upgrades, or key components that should be upgraded for a little extra $$. Any guidance is greatly appreciated! My main goal is to make online play as smooth as possible playing games on ultra graphics. Not really on a budget, but like anyone else trying to save money where it can be saved.

Games I will be playing that I'd like to play on ULTRA settings: Diablo 2,StarCraft 2, Guild Wars 2, Planet Side 2, Battlefield 3, Skyrim HD.

*Random Notes*
I'm still reading up on power supplies, motherboards, and processor because they confuse me the most as far as compatibility, what's overkill, and what would work best together. Thanks for taking to time to read my build, look forward to hearing any source of input.

the i7 2600k is overkill. you should look at getting the i5-2500k or the i5 3570k

A full tower is a large box. You may want to consider putting it down to a mid sized case.

the 680 will only be needed for BF3. All of the other games can run on integrated graphics or 20% of the gpu's capability.

I really dont think that you need the professional series power supply. Unless you have a workstation or something very expensive yada yada, the tx series of around 650 to 750 watts will be fine.

I don't have a lot of experience with MSI or EVGA motherboards. I prefer ASUS myself. Asus and gigabyte make great boards, and asrock makes good boards in the z68 and z77 models.

Razer makes some great keyboards and mice. I would look at them, as they appear to be slightly cheaper with a good reputation. my favorite streamer, Dragon uses the razer blackwidow keyboard (same price) and razer deathadder mouse (slightly cheaper.)

He will want the 680 for Skyrim if he intends on using the majority of HD mods (guessing by HD after Skyrim). With AA my copy of Skyrim lagged out my 580 unless I limited to 4x. That was at 1920x1080, at 2048x1152 I had to use 2x. My copy of Skyrim also lags a 4GB 680 in 2D Surround (3 1080p) with 4xAA. Little food for thought. Vanilla Skyrim can be played on my 465 just fine. The HD mods really do a lot if you properly use all of them.

I would change the 2600k to the 3570k.

Don't waste your time and money on newer eVGA boards. Their X58 line was fantastic, and the quality has degraded over the past 2 generations. Their video cards are still top notch though.

Can't really comment on peripherals, but the G700 was based off the G9x and I love it.
