6.1 inches is cutting it uber-close to not being able to put the side on my case, anything shorter that'll work?

I dont know how big the Thermal right ultra 120 is but you could try that, or maybe even the Zalman CNPS 9700.

Yes, X38 will easily be able to get up to 3-3.2 GHz- it is an excellent overclocking platform.

The PC POWER AND COOLING 610W will be a very good PSU for your needs.

http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/.../stress-sm.png shows a nice comparison of some of the mainstream heatsinks. the TRUE and TRU are both taller than the tuniq, so theyre out.
you COULD go with a zalman cnps9700, theyre around $55, and a bit shorter. (142mm)

As for the HSF combo, I think i'll go with this:
Newegg.com - Rosewill RCX-Z775-EX 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail
Good reviews for my same exact setup.

As far as the PSU i'm deciding between:

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-750-ACAA-A1 ATX12V / EPS12V 750W Power Supply 115/ 230 V Nemko, TUV, cUL, CE, BSMI, FCC, CCC - Retail

Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V EPS12V 610W Continuous @ 40°C Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, cUL, CE, CB, TUV - Retail

tough choice.

Overclockers Online its actually not that bad -- probably comparable to the AF7 you had originally planned on, though

go with the pcp&c 610 silencer

This would be a good choice:

Newegg.com - ZEROtherm BTF90 92mm Silent UFO CPU Cooler - Retail

This would probably work better but it is also more expensive: (its actually on special offer so its not a bad price now)

Newegg.com - ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail

The Silencer 610 is a fine choice: I had one before my system broke.

I'd choose x38 over a 650i chipset any day.

The 650i is a good budget clocker...but not very good for quads, and kind of a low overall quality motherboard.

X38!!!

Ouch bro :/ I'd reccomend waiting, rather than getting a lower quality system
