Default Rate my setup. (gaming comp)

keep in mind that i am on a budget.

CPU - 3 GHz Intel pentium 4 link $190

Mobo - 'Gigabite' link $58

Ram - Corsair Valueselect 1 GB link $80

but i have a question on these vid cards. is the difference between the 2 extremely noticeable??
Vid Card - 6800 GT or 6600 GT $240 vs. $119 (256mb vs 128mb).

everything else will be taken off my current comp (ie. cd-rom, burner, etc.)

depending on the vid card, this is going to cost me $570 or $450. how does my setup look. i wont be OC'ing. i'm looking to play CS:Source and other first person shooters, and get 80-100 FPS while in gameplay, will i net my goals with this setup? thanks

6800GT - worth its cost, although 6600GT is still a good choice

I think I heard that 6800GT can be unlocked or whatever. Someone with video card experience needs to post and tell you I am just a moron who knows nothing but scraped together enough cash for my 7800GTX

Send a message via AIM to chevytrucknut

Get the 6800GS, it will OC to better than the GT, and it is cheapter by like 40-50 bucks.

Go with the Opteron 146, unless you're a die hard Intel fan, and if you will be OCing. If you won't be, then go with the AMD 3200+

use the money you save to get a better mobo, socket 939
the old system...
EVGA GeForce 6600GT
Enermax Whisper II 535W PSU
1.2 TB
1GB Ram
Chaintech VNF4 Ultra

Don't go Intel if your gaming, AMD is better. Get this:

CPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103533

Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130491

Ram is good

Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125218 get the 6800GS over the GT because it costs less and performs the same

what kind of power supply do you have? make sure you have enough power and amps to power your computer.

Intel is a bad choice for a gaming comp, AMD are much better know for good performance in games. This CPU is much better and you won't regret buying it

As for a mobo, the msi k8n is a good choice for the budget you have

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 @2.4Ghz
Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2
Connect 3d X1800XT 256mb
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 667Mhz
Belinea 19\" Widescreen LCD
Antec Super Lanboy
Seasonic ATX v2 430W
