I managed to scrape 2500$ for a gaming pc.
Heres what I think of buying:

AMD Athlon X2 4200+

Motherboard:Gigabyte K8XP-SLI nForcd4 SLI SATA RAID AC97 il394

Burner:NEC DL DVD+/- 16x ND-4550 Black

Ram:2 x 1024Mb Kingston 400Mhz Dual Channel

Gainward GF 7800GTX 3500 ULTRA 256 MB 2xDVI+VIVO

Pow supply:ATX-2 450W Chieftec GPS-450AA

Hard drive:250GB Maxtor 7200 tr. 16MB cache ATA

Well that left me with a 300$ reserve
And I`m thinking how to spend it ;)
Maybe on a better processor like 4400+ or...well I dont know;p

I consider buying a second GF 7800 and going SLI in the future.

Anyway what do you think/would change in my build.

if your going with a 4200+ go with a 3800+ then the only deifference is the speed. most people will say get a segate or WD hdd

Yeah you are defiantly going to want a bigger powersupply for that system. Also what case are you getting? Or do you already haev one

Definitely go with an eVGA 7800GTX and a bigger power supply. Some good power supply brands are OCZ, Antec, Fortron.

Hmm..Yeb the power sup.should be better.I have about 100-150 for one.
Think you can find something better?

Oh and I`m thinking of waiting a bit longer and get me one of the upcomming GF 7800GTX 512MB.

yeah, wait like a week or two for the 512mb GTX, 550/1800 clock speeds, that will be insane, and im gettin one :D

wow spartan, you have to be the coolest person I know

anyway, get a good seasonic or FSP power supply, a DFI mobo, and a Seagate or WD harddrive. Please don't do SLI...you'll kick yourself if you compare a single 7800 to 2 in SLI. Just 1 is fine.

thats what I'd do with that budget

There isn't much of a difference in performance between 1 7800gt and 2 7800gts ?
