Worth the $ per GB? Was thinking of gettting the 74GB version and a 500GB 7200RPM drive. Is it worth the cash or should i just go with the raw storage?

It's not worth the dollar per GB. A fast 7200RPM hard drive, is just as good. Such as the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 series. Or if you want the speed of a Raptor, plus much more space, I would really suggest:

Raptors aren't worth it. You don't get what you pay for. Reviews also show that Raptors are quite loud.

the seagate 7200.11 series will hopefully fix the powerhungry/noise issues of the 750gb and they will be releasing the 1 tb as well

I think raptors are worth it if your looking for pure performance and want to store your games/OS without having the hassle of Raiding. Only 165 for a raptor 150 gig. I went with that and a seagate 7200.10 for media storage and it worked out great. SOOOO Glad I didn't go through the hassle/risk of RAID 0.
