I have a gig of kingston hyper X with the timing of 5-2-2-2 according to the bios on my MB

I just bought 2 gigs of corsair XMS ram with timing of 3-4-4-8

what does this mean?
I didnt go with the 2 gig of hyper x this time because i never overclock and was told i didnt need it.

does this timing on my new ram suck or what?

no, on the contrary. The timing on your new ram is improved. The LOWER the first number, the better. That's a latency timing, which means 'delay'

Oh good, I just dropped some big cash on these new upgrades I was about to be bumbed out. So what does the 8 mean I mean 2 to an 8 is a large increase
