I'm looking at this motherboard to upgrade to
Newegg.com - ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

My question is when it lists the supported ram speeds it has O.C next 1800 and 1600. does this mean that i would have to do something special to use actual 1800 speed rated ram? or could i just use it as normal. I know iv'e seen articles of other people having trouble with the higher speed ram on motherboards.

I'm pretty sure it means it can OC enough to cover those speeds

I too im also wanting a motherboard to upgrade too and was looking at the same one! will my AMD PII 940 work on this board?

it means it supports ram up to those speeds, and yes, you will most likely have to go into the bios yourself and manually set timings, voltages, etc.

@ aaron, no, your x4 940 will not work because it is an am2+ cpu. that mobo is am3 only, so only am3 cpus and ddr3 ram.

Ok so what kind of ram should i get for this mobo? if i did buy the 1800 ddr3 would it still work? because i can set it how it needs to be just as long as the board will ultimately support it.

Im getting the Phenom ii x4 955 with this board :p gotta have the ram to match
