So I bought: OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 in a package deal with my CPU (which 1 day later won an award on Newegg, the CPU that is, lol) timing is 8-8-8-24

Question is, did I overpay for it?

comes to 150, -15 for deal, -20 for mail in rebate so:

$115 for 6GB, DDR3 1600.

I know the timings aren't the best around, see most people boasting of 7-7-7-20 and such, but will it make THAT big of a deal?

so I paid about $19 per GB of RAM, going from DDR2 -some ungodly low standard, not even 600- to it....

Timings tend not to matter too much, as by the time the comp needs to go outside the CPU cache it's going tons slower anyway.

once at 1600mhz, timings don't really make a huge difference. With ddr2 they do, in the 800mhz and 1066 area.

I don't really think I overpaid at all since that extra $15 discount popped in with my CPU, since there's not really any 6GB RAM for $115 or less that I could find, with free shipping to me.

The original was to buy this: OCZ 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333, but it's slower and costs more, since that double rebate and all.
