So i'm in the process of ordering my parts from NCIX, everything is fine so far till i came upon some crucial ballistix RAM.

1. NCIX.com - Buy Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2 PC2-8500 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15 Dual Channel Memory Kit W/ LED - BL2KIT12864AL1065 In Canada.
2. NCIX.com - Buy Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 DDR2 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit - BL2KIT12864AA1065 In Canada.

Now my question, are the only two differences between these sets of RAM tracers, and a 240 pin connector? I'm going with an Asus Maximus Formula SE and havent seen anywhere on the specs if it will support 240 pin SDRAM. i'm gonna use NCIX build/test feature so if i dont find out the answer here they should tell me. I just want to know if its worth the extra 30$....... which i doubt..

the difference is that the Tracers have these LEDS on it.. and its black..

i thought it was the other way around... wow.. ok.. get the Tracers then..

why not get the ddr2-800 ones..

Wow the tracers are cheaper? Whats that about. But you can pick up the DDR 800 ballistix from newegg for around 50 bucks after rebate and they will easily overclock to 1100 or so.

<--- has never overclocked anything before. I know nothing about overclocking RAM. In plus, couldnt i just overclock the 1066 to really beat out the 800?

overclocking ram isn't hard...

Also actually no not really. Look at the DDR2 1066 timings, they are 1066 at 2.1v 5-5-5-12.

The DDR2-800 model is 800 at 2.1v with 4-4-4-12 timings. All they did was loosen the timings and rate the speed higher in the factory.
