What makes ram compatable?

is all ddr2 ram compatable if from the same manufactuer, but if one moudle is at a higher speed than another it will be bottlenecked?

thanks

tim

I don't know what you meant by moudle, but I assume you meant stick. If one stick is at a higher speed than another, the higher speed stick will reduce down to the lower speed stick, to match. So if you have a DDR2 800 stick and a DDR2 667 stick, the DDR2800 will run at DDR2 667 speeds.

in a way yes, if one piece is dual channel compatible and the other one isnt you wont have dual channel, also like b1gapl said it will be reduce down to the lowest speed of ram on the system
the computer will run but you will not have the performance that you should if you paired correct sticks of ram together
