Hello.
I currently have a RAID 5 setup on a gigabyte EP45C-UD3R. I have 3 Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS in RAID 5 and a standalone 1TB WD caviar Black (in case that makes a difference) on the same 6 channel controller. and they have been running like this for several months now.
I got a good deal on a pair of new Western Digital RE3 WD5002ABYS (about 45 each on amazon). If i were to add these 2 drives to the RAID, would there be any issues? The performance of the RE3 drives is very similar to the Seagate drives. about 100mb/s average transfer rate, according to HD tune.
however, the RE3 drives have much lower seek times but I don't think that would be a problem, or am I wrong?
