quick sound card question

thx for the quick reply. i kinda understand now that there will be quality loss if i hook up stuff to the front of the case.

right now i'm looking at surround sound cards. so i'm looking at 7.1 channel soundcards. i'm on the right track right?

I've been reading some of your earlier threads about the definition of an audiophile:p and i'm certainly not an audiophile. so i'll stick with a medium range card like audigy2 Zs. what do you think?

Even if you are not a hardcore audiophile, but you value sound quality, I would pass the ZS over. Get an X-fi. The extra price is worth it. It does not resample sound, it supports ASIO, it supports bit-matched playback, and it is the best you can currently get for gaming.

And since it does not resample the sound, if you ever did get serious about sound quality, you could hook up an external DAC.

efd:
It's not made to speed things up. It's made so you can enable things like EAX without SLOWING things down.
