I'm planning on within the next few months improving my PC for FarCry 2 as some of you know, i plan on getting the ATI a few days after the game is released.

But for now i have £60 to spend, i can either get this:

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz/PC2-6400 Memory GOLD DUAL CHANNEL Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-18) - Ebuyer 4GB of DDR2 @ 800Mhz

or

OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) DDR3 1333Mhz/PC3-10666 Memory CL9(9-9-9-26) 1.6 V Unbuffered - Ebuyer 2GB DDR3 @ 1333mhz

Now i'm guessing the DDR3 ram will allow me alot more headroom when Overclocking my Processor, right ?

So my question is, will being able to achiev a higher CPU clock on my E6850 give more performance over 4GB ram and a lower CPU clock speed (for FarCry2) ? or is it the other way around.

I'm pretty sure my P35C DS3R supports 1333mhz DDR3, and im on Windows XP - not vista.

DDR3:
Support for DDR3 1066/800 MHz memory modules

i don't think you can do 1333. Maybe just save up more money and go with nehalem? but if you really just want to upgrade now i'd go with the 4gb of ddr2

i would also go with 4gb ddr2,,,ddr3 1333 performs barely above ddr2 1066 and 800. 1600mhz and up is where you see more performance in ddr3.

I use Vista 64 bit and I've never had any issues. Every once in a while a program gives you a little bit of trouble, but that can easily be resolved after some looking around. Are you sticking to XP for a reason? If not grab Vista.
