Questions for a build

Hey,

I was thinking about possibly looking into building a computer. I would be using the computer mainly for gaming and audio editing. The First thing that comes to mind is to go for the core 2 or use a cheaper amd or intel. I want to keep the budget under 1200 so i dont know if core 2 is an option at that point. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes go for a Core 2 Duo...it's the best CPU you can get right now..

Yeah, Conroe is viable at that budget. Get a e6300 along with a nice aftermarket heatsink and OC it. Pair it with something like a 7900GT for around $250. The rest is up to you with the case, PSU, drives, mobo, memory, etc...
