Default Question about the next intel

Does anyone know what is planned for intel? I know the Phenoms were the new AMD cpus.. whats planned for intel?

I'm using my 3600+ @ 3.1ghz, I kind of want to upgrade.. especially with the release of that new 45W proc.

If intel is releasing a proc soon, does anyone know if it will be different socket?

Oh and by the way..

I GOT MY SUPER SUPER CLOCKED 8800GT (BRAND NEW) EVGA FOR 206.50 $

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO

Nehalem will be released ~ one year from now (late 2008/early 2009), and I think it will use a new socket.

Another question..

How is DDR3 vs DDR2? I know there will be a performance increase, but is it really an amazing amount? I'm really thinking about upgrading to that 45nm proc... but i dont know if I want to spend 350 on DDR3 slots..

bah

well depending on what DDR3 ram you get, it could be up to double the speed of today's DDR2 ram.

DDR3 today is not worth it, paying $600 for ram is crazy, even paying $250 for 2GB nowadays is wasteful.

If you really want to upgrade in future, i would suggest a phenom wen their ready at higher clocks which will be compataible with your AM2 system.
