for $700 you can have a "quad" fx-70, but how does it compare to the Q6600 which is $850?

It would be cheaper to go with the evga 680i and QX6700. The 2xFX-74 with the dual socket motherboard, will set you about $1500+. The 2xFX-72 with mobo is $1300+. While the evga 680i and QX6700 goes for $1200+. You're right, anthrax.....the placement of the 24-pin connector is not appealing.

Read the conclusion, it says that "Core 2 Extreme QX6700 is faster overall".

So, QX6700 is better than two FX-74, and cheaper.

Intel > AMD. Period.

Also the QX6700 takes a considerable amount of less wattage, not as loud, and not as hot, better oc's as well. If you want Quad Core Intel is the way to go.

Dude I know I was just suprised that amd put up a good fight.

Chill out son.

Holy crap. Who ever thought an AMD processor would come stock at a speed of 3.0GHz hahaha. I think the amount of money it would take to make a quad core of either intel or AMD is just ridiculous and not worth it. It just kind of seems like overkill in my eyes. It's cool to see how much things are progessing though and it's nice to see AMD still putting up a fight.
