The way I see it, a 3.6GHz Q6600 will probably perform the same as a Q9450 at 3.2GHz,

and the Q6600, with a price drop, might go as low as being $100 cheaper... so the choice'll be pretty clear I think...

i doubt the q6600 wil drop $100 when the q9450 comes out but it might drop another $40, but in canada that will still only make at 230.

nawh, what I said was the difference in price between the two will be $100, not that it'll drop by $100...

The Q9450 will be about ~$320 (maybe even higher..) and the Q6600 being $220 is totally possible, being that you can get one easily now for $250 on sale, so the $220 figure is what I'm projecting as the average 'on sale' price after the Q9450 comes to replace it, the regular price is still like $289.99, and I can see that dropping to $259.99 or lower

I think this will totally be an advantage to enthusiasts who can tell apart the two performance-wise and will benefit from it being cheaper... I really don't think the Q9450, with price in mind, will replace the Q6600, that 8x multiplier is just a shame, but I'd really like to see benchmarks soon enough comparing a Q6600 at 3.6GHz and a Q9450 at 3.2GHz.. I'm thinking they'll perform very close, and the Q6600 can push well into 4.0GHz, whereas the Q9450 will be much harder to push to 3.6GHz..

Like they are saying... at micro centers u can pick up a q6600 for $200... hop on that deal if you can... I see no point in anyone dropping the q6600 and getting a q9500 if they already have a q6600.
