nawh, what I said was the difference in price between the two will be $100, not that it'll drop by $100...
The Q9450 will be about ~$320 (maybe even higher..) and the Q6600 being $220 is totally possible, being that you can get one easily now for $250 on sale, so the $220 figure is what I'm projecting as the average 'on sale' price after the Q9450 comes to replace it, the regular price is still like $289.99, and I can see that dropping to $259.99 or lower
I think this will totally be an advantage to enthusiasts who can tell apart the two performance-wise and will benefit from it being cheaper... I really don't think the Q9450, with price in mind, will replace the Q6600, that 8x multiplier is just a shame, but I'd really like to see benchmarks soon enough comparing a Q6600 at 3.6GHz and a Q9450 at 3.2GHz.. I'm thinking they'll perform very close, and the Q6600 can push well into 4.0GHz, whereas the Q9450 will be much harder to push to 3.6GHz..
