Psu Question

I am getting ready to order my build in a week or two and i was wondering what kind of PSU I need. I am currently using a 450 watt stock PSU that came with my case. However, I am not sure that it will work with my next build..Here is my build list, maybe you guys could tell me if it will work or not.


Video card: HD4850
CPU: E7200
MOBO: Biostar p43
Memory: OCZ Platinum Revision-2

Its difficult to say if it will. Stock PSUs are normally pretty poor quality, and considering its only 450w i would think it probably has not go enough juice. Amps are alot more important than watts - check out the PSU guide in this section.

Best thing to do would be to buy a good new one, such as a Corsair 550VX - it comes highly recommended from these forums.

or with ur system u could even use a 450vx to save cash.

A 450vx would be ok for my system?
Also, if I decide to not upgrade my PSU can this have any negative catastrophic effects on my new build ?

if your psu is underpowered, it could damage your psu.... but more importantly it might not allow your card to work. do you know how many amps your psu currently runs? that will determine if your cards will work at all
