Not an expert in PSUs but here Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Silent Pro 700 RS-700-AMBA-D3 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies. Not totally sure what exactly to be looked for in a PSU to be honest, but everything on that 1 seems good . Hmmm may be I'll learn something from the other suggestions .

It's also a Cooler Master, but seems cheaper than a few others.

Have you read the PSU guide? Coolermaster is not the best, far from it and it is quite unlikely that you require 700W, what are the specs of the machine?

When building a system, how do you average how much power needed for the system to work smoothly (theoretically)? Just thought I'd ask, haven't really been inside systems for a long time and sort off losing my knowledge .

You don't need 700w for that.

I'd say this one is pretty good, I have the 550w version. Modular and all that.

^ Newegg's PSU calculator is kind of shady. The 500w that Hikari suggested is good.

Yha I bet a good Corsair or like would run at 350... just don't expand.

I agree too with a 500ish, 700 runs my whole sli rig.
