Default Is this PSU any good?

The wattage and amps on the 12v are decent and the price is decent, but does anyone have an opinion, personal or from experience, with this particular PSU or brand?

Newegg.com - HIPER HPU-4B580-MS ATX12V v2.2 580W Power Supply 100 - 120V - Retail

Thanks.

Default Re: Is this PSU any good?

I think it's a great PSU. I use one myself, and so do a few others. It can power the system in your sig, easily.

But there are better PSUs for the money. Like the Corsair 550VX.
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX ATX12V V2.2 550W Power Supply 90 - 264 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail
It offers more power, and is just about the same price, and cheaper with the rebate. Not modular though.

If you want one that is modular, and offers a bit more power, I would suggest this:
Buy.com - Corsair 520W SLI Certified Modular ATX Power Supply - CMPSU-520HX
...cheaper too, with free shipping.

Default Re: Is this PSU any good?

I'm doing my research for my first build, so the PSU would power a very similar set up, just an upgraded GFX, yet decided on, and OC'd Q6600 and RAM. I like modular and the second Corsair looks pretty sweet, price and all.

Thanks!
