Default Program to check how much video ram is being used?

Is there a program that will tell you how much video ram is being used?

I just had a network game of Command and Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath crash and tell me it was out of memory. However my friend while playing the same game didn't crash and he only has 3gb of ram. So since I have 8gb I figured maybe I ran out of video ram because my graphics were set higher than his and I think we both have 512mb.

Not sure about this.. but if I remember Everest based from the last time I used it.. I think there's a GPU Ram usage meter on there..
