Yes, I agree. I didn't mean to sound like it would make a huge difference performance-wise. It's only valid for those who want the ultimate overclock, when every Mhz counts.

Hey hey hey what about me

It's funny, I got the exact same time as nosboost with my E6600, 12.968.

Alright, let me rephrase: "noboost is a 1337 overclocker". Feeling better, Lord Anthrax?

By the way, 12.9s is insane. My friend's Turion X2 does 57 seconds, and my computer at work (an old P4 Willamette) does 2 minutes, 1 second, lol.

And the processor can easily crap out before 3Ghz, it happens all the time. Not all these chips are unlimited overclockers. While the FSB is often the limiter, the chips have been known to run out of steam far before the FSB. I doubt you could get all E6300s out there to 3.5Ghz, given a 500FSB motherboard.

Given adequate cooling, there's no reason an E6300 would fail to make use of the 500Mhz FSB.

And 400Mhz FSB was just an example. I agree it's not a lot; 500Mhz would be much more respectable, in which case my point is even more valid.

400fsb takes some balls to do, you need like 1.5v to do so, and that ain't no laughin matter, if you wanna keep it prime stable, you need some juice... and getting 500fsb would need some amazing cooling...

Try it. Not all E6300s will get to that speed on any air cooling. Only if you get subzero cooling, and start pumping some major volts into it, will you have a chance.

Kidding? Maybe 400FSB is a lot for an E6600, but its very very low considering how far FSBs can go.
