I have an ADS usb enclosure. The problem is that it works with my Maxtor 6gb hard drive, but when I put in my Western Digital 120gb hard drive, it doesn't work.

My laptop sees it when I plug it into the USB port (makes the noise and shows up on device manager) by the drive never shows up in my computer.

I'm thinking it may be a power issue, but does a bigger (more gig) hard drive take more power?

My next thing is to plug it into a desktop USB port and see if it works.

Ok it worked on a desktop, but I had to go to disk management and re-initialize the drive.

Now I plugged it back into my laptop and in disk management it shows up as a dynamic & foreign drive. My only option is to convert it into a basic drive which would erase it.

Any clue on what to do next?

what physical size was the drive you to out and what size is the one you put in? did you check the jumpers, i had a similar problem but chaning it to master worked
