Predictions: AMD vs. Intel

People will buy amd processors right now because

1. they have a am2 motherboard already.
2. they are hopeing am2+ lasts awhile and I guess that is the plan like you said. Plus the performance difference isn't huge in games so its not a huge lost in performance to a lot of people.
3. they are amd fanboys / or intel haters.

If I had a am2 board I wouldn't jump to Intel. But if building a whole new computer right now I would probably jump to Intel because IIRC its going to be another year before they switch sockets and if I bought a cpu now I probably wouldn't need to upgrade again for a while. And by then a bunch of new stuff could be out and ddr3 may be the norm so I would need a new board anyway.

In my opinion, the quality of AMD processors is also lower than Intel's.
Ha. No.

I think AMD's manufacturing methods are actually of a higher standard.
But that's only because AMD has much fewer fabs than Intel does, and they need to have high manufacturing standards, so that they can get high yields. And thus not lose as much money.
This is an oldish video, but some of the points are still valid:
