Well.. I've recently had a bad run with a PSU i just got the

Newegg.com - THERMALTAKE TR2 500W Power Supply ATX12V V2.0 - Retail

from a retail store for like 60 bucks.

After a one time use in my new rig... my mobo catches on fire.. haha what luck I have.

So I was thinking maybe just returning that power supply.. or sell to my friend or something and just buy a whole new one that is probably more reliable. Was seeing what your guys choice are. I'm probably looking for a 500-550 watt psu. Not probably like 50-100 and would be nice if the cables were sleeved but not necessary because i'm more about the performance.

My rig:

cpu: AMD 3600+ Brisbane 1.9ghz
Mobo: BioForce T550 SE
Ram: 2gb of G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400PHU1-1GBNR - Retail
HDD: Seagate 7200 250gb
GPU: 7600GT
HSF: Arctic cooler 64 pro
CASE: cooler master centurian 5

was thinking maybe going with these

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail
Corsair CMPSU-520HX 520w

or

Newegg.com - Rosewill RP550V2-D-SL 550W SLI Ready-ATX 12V V2.01 Power Supply 115/230 V CSA,UL,TUV - Retail
Rosewill RP550 550W

Or if you guys suggest any other ones please do so :) thanks

Either of those, are excellent choices. Just a matter of how much you want to spend.

wow. the tr2 500w should be a quality PSU. odd how that happened. maybe you connected something wrong?

anyways the 2 PSUs there are both top quality PSUs but ill probably go for the corsair because it is v2.2 and has more approvals and a little bit more features like PFC, 3 18A 12v, etc

BUT if you are on a budget rosewill is the way to go. the extra approvals and features might not worth paying double.

The RP550 will handle that rig quit easily...

Thermaltake are not recommended PSU's until the ToughPower line. Ask any PSU enthusiast and they will tell you that.

did u look at the PSU guide b4 u bought it? but wait then if u went it said that the Rosewill is no good.... hmmm Rosewill's are good PSU's recently...

The newer Rosewills are better but I still only trust 2 models of Rosewill 100% and would recommend them and that is the RP500-2 and the RP550-2

I posted a post ata the end of the guide saying that the RP550 is a good budget PSU.
