I have an antec smartpower 350watt power supply in my computer now and it has run my 6600gt agp fine. I was wondering if that same power supply would be able to run this
x800gto. The processor is an amd athlon 64 3300+. I only have a 802.11g card and a 56k modem card in the computer. What do you think?
Here are the power supply specs:

350 watts total
+5v: max=35a min=1.5a
+12v: max=21a min=0.8a
+3.3v: max=28a min=0.5a
-5v: max=0.5a min=0a
-12v: max=0.8a min=0a
+5v SB: max=2.0a min=0a

+5v, +12v and +3.3v max. load: 330w
+5v and +3.3v max. load: 230w

Voltage: 115VAC/230VAC
Frequency: 47hz-63hz
Input Current: 8.0a/115VAC 4.0a/230VAC

2 sticks of 512mb PC3200 ddr sdram. Motherboard is an Asus K8S-LA Salmon-GL6E. Here is the link to the computer specs. I took that computer, added the smartpower power supply, another stick of ram, and a 6600gt.

The x800gto is not a big step up from the 6600gt. Save your money for a socket 939 mobo.

It should be enough, however, if you wanted to add/upgrade anything in the future you would probably have to buy a sufficent power supply.

Yeah I wouldn't get the x800gto, have you checked benchmarks against the 6600gt? It does beat it in most cases, but not significantly. I'd say wait for the 6800GS to come out for agp, or upgrade to a pci-express motherboard.
But if you are really looking for that small upgrade from the 6600GT, don't let me hold you back from getting the x800gto.

Well I wouldn't even consider getting the x800gto if my 6600gt was still fine but it is messed up. I was looking at the 6800gs agp but the core is clocked at 350mhz which is much lower than the pci express versions which are between 425mhz and 485mhz so I don't know if that would be much better than the x800gto.

Well I'm pretty sure the 6800GS would still perform much better, check this benchmarking

The 6800GS AGP cores aren't enough lower to make it worse than the x800gto, I don't think. If I were you, I'd just wait for the 6800Gs agp to get a benchmark against the x800gto or itself in pci-e, then you can make your decision.

Since the 6800gs agp cards are shipping out from xfx and evga I think I'll take your advice and wait for some kind of information on its performance. Thanks again for all the help!!!
