I am building a new computer and have all my parts picked out except for the power supply. My problem is that I dont know what is good to look for in this particular part of a computer. Are certain companies better than others? Is most of the performance based on the amount of watts the PS is?

These are a few that I was looking at, they are all roughly the same price I just need help w/ finding out which one is best.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, TUV, FCC, CCC - Power Supplies

Newegg.com - RAIDMAX QUANTUM RX-700 700W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, FCC, TUV, CE, C-tick, CCC, CB - Power Supplies

Newegg.com - APEVIA WARLOCK POWER ATX-WA750W 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply 115/ 230 V CB, CE, TUV, cUL, FCC - Power Supplies

Newegg.com - OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V - Power Supplies

The corsair is the best but list your system so we can best decide which will best suit your needs. You do understand that it is amperage on the rails is more important than the total wattage it's rated at right?

Yeah these were things that I did not know. This is what it will be powering:

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor

Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

ECS N8800GTS-512MX GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

You can start by eliminating the Apevia and the Raidmax since both are avoid brands....

Now its OCZ GameXStream vx the Corsair 650tx... the 650tx in terms of its rails (and wattage isn't as important as rails)

If you want a good explanation of rails check out a 3dgameman review

Wow really?

Didn't know that.. but you're right on the Corsair being better though
