Hi Guys - I am upgrading my system and I'd like to include an external HDD enclosure that I will occassionally take to my parents house to interface with their MacBook. (not MacBookPro)

-It won't be running the OS - for data backup only.
-Something in the 300-750GB range. I like western digital & seagate but am open to anything.
-USB 2.0 is fine. I would assume I still want 7200rpm but it's not essential.
-External power source (not power over USB)
-And most importantly, I'd like to make sure that it accesses both WindowsXP (my tower) and my parents MacBook (osX).

These are the factors so far that I imagined would be important. My preliminary searches turned up mostly negative reviews - is there a board favorite on this matter?

Thank in advance, everyone

What i'd do is get a normal good HDD and get an enclosure. Then I guess format it to FAT32 if you need both OS'es. but that means no files over 4GB.

great idea..
