Well it's been many years, but the time has come for me to replace my ancient desktop, so please review my build below and let me know what you think.

I mainly use my laptop, so this is not my main computer and I don't want to spend a fortune on it. I just want something for my office to play two eve accounts at once, BF3, TF2, ect at decent settings.

Just to clarify, I have a budget of about $1100 and that includes dual LED LCDs and a sweet Corsair 650D case :D

-Thanks guys

You'll need to ensure that mobo will run BD, Not ure how well it'll play 2 accounts either...

Heads up, while the 650d is pretty sweet, air cooling s abit disappointing.

That build looks good, although I wouldn't suggest Bulldozer IMHO. The performance is a bit (and that's being nice) disappointing. For a great gaming build, go with a 2500k and a good P67/z68 mobo. OC it a bit if you like, and watch it work wonders. You don't need 8 cores for gaming, btw, another reason to go i5.

EVE recommends a dual core CPU, so unless you're running 2x BF3 games a 4/6-Core should be fine.
2500k + P67/Z86 would be nice, or if you want to stick with AMD check out the FX-6100 or 4100.

+1
I'd check out the Corsair Carbide 400R/500R, same low-key looks with better airflow.

Exactly my point. Even running two games, a quad is most likely more than enough. If you really need more, a 6 core is something to look at.

Well thanks for all the feedback so far guys. One thing I've read somewhere since I posted about the AMD Bulldozer platform is that they recommend you get a 900 series chipset instead of an older 800 series chipset. I guess if you have an AMD FX Bulldozer, an AMD Radeon 6000 series video card, and a 900 series chipset your system becomes an AMD Scorpius platform. Is this just a marketing gimick, or are there actual benefits to paying the extra money for a 900 series chipset and rounding the system up to a Scoripius platform?

Thanks

if you're willing to spend that much on a case, look at some of the coolermaster ones, sometimes you end up paying a little more but i've always thought their layouts were great as well as the airflow and they really made a name for themselves during their first years of pushing cases out.

I don't plan on overclocking any time soon, so I think the 650D should have sufficient cooling. I have owned numerous Cooler Master cases before and have been highly impressed with the quality. It's just that most of their newer expensive cases seem to be too flashy for me. I love the 650D because it is highly simplistic and the interior holes for cable management are just simply awesome.
