The differences are suddle, but could be an issue.. The biggest difference is the 890 has 4290, where as the 880 is a 4250.

Also on these 2 boards are the amount and speed of pci-e slots.

From reading your thread, unless you plan on running 2 gpu cards, that 880 will be good.

Compare the 2 for the overall differences.

On the cpu, the 955 vs 965, the 55 is a black edition, which allows for much better overclocking, the 965 8isn't.

waiting for new tech is like a dog chasing its tail... you'll eventually catch it, but its gonna hurt.

^ both the 955 and 965 are black editions, not just the 955.

the 955 and the 965 are the same chip, but the multiplier on the 965 was raised by 1 to give it a bump in clock speed, otherwise they're the same. both being black editions, they both have unlocked multipliers so you could very easily get a 955, go into the bios and raise the multiplier up by 1 if the 200mhz difference really bothers you because you wouldn't notice it.

Both will OC about the same, sometimes the 965 will yield an OC of 100-200mhz higher maybe, but like i said, the difference wouldn't be noticeable, unless you're big on benchmarking.

I changed the link sorry.

Stock fan will be alright also I'm assuming.

I don't know about the Duo or its longevity. I currently have a 2.2 AMD Athalon 64 X2 Duo Core and it sucks for WoW/Starcraft 2 I'm thinking the 3.2 Black Edition might net the same results.
