Default planing a my gaming laptop build

ok i know a but load about desktops but im planign on geting a laptop around chrismass my parents are giving me 300 dollars each as they are divorced and il have about 1500 saved i hope what would be a good system to build i dotn need all my games to be maxed i just want it for portability i dont want to go dell tho i want a custom made system so i just need specs recomendations any help would be greatly apreciated and wondering should i wait till vista comes out if so leme know and sugest a build anyway. and thanks for all the help in advance

i'm using Acer TravelMate 8204, its a powerhouse, with Intel Centrino Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 256MB ATi X1600 card (512MB Shared in total). i am not sure weather any new came with more power, but it was the fastest as when I bought it.

basically well a store near my house sells lg laptops u jst specify ur specs and parts as if u were to build it

i bought mine for 1700£ at that time, now it'll be around for 1600£. Acer gives best value for money, as if I had to buy same specs in some Dell or other, it would have surely costed me 2100£+.
