Default PCIe Cards in SLi

Hello: I have a plain Jane Nvidia 6800 PCIe 325/700 and A 6800XT 350/1000 both are 256MB. Can these two differnt cards run in SLI mode or do the cards need to have identical architecture and core frequencies. Is it wise to unclock the addtional pipelines (12 to 16) without the 6800 having a connection to the power supply apart from the PCIe express slot per se on the plain 6800? SLI Noob!

i'm sure they have to be the same core.. and one will pretty much be a slave card and run at the other cards speeds.. as for those two cards, i really don't think you can run the two in sli
