Q6600 G0 revision (W/ Sycthe mine, ninja or infinity and MX-2 paste)
Abit IX38 quad GT
8800 GTS G92
Crucial ballstix 2 GB DDR2 800

DVD burner of your choice (brands of LG, samsung, optorite or plextor)
Hard drive of your choice, so long as it is SATA II, 32 MB cache.

That should be enough information for you to find the parts on newegg and clubit..

.. and you really wouldnt get the gtx8800?.. just wondering on the why
does this all sound right so far?
hate to order the wrong parts that wont work together

and.. would a 500 w power suply be ok?
 
You could buy the GTX, its just, why spend so much money when there will be new cards comming out soon.

I think you could get an 3870 X2 for roughly the same price, maybe 30 USD more..

But if your going to upgrade to a better grahpics card soon, stay with the GTS G92.
The GTX may drop in price after nvidia releases it's new cards..
If your not going to upgrade any time soon then get the X2.
