Default pc between 800-1300?

hello there.. im really new to this forum but one of my friends sent me here to check it all out.. was wondering on if someone could help me out a bit on what i should buy for my new computer.. yes will be building it from scratch.

im an active gamer so a nice video card is a must. what is the best for the buck?

chip?
memory?
power?
and all the good stuff i forgot.. if any quesions back at me would love to answer them as best as can

2gb of corsair ballistix (i have some for sale )
corsair hx520 or vx550
------------------------------------------------- Pick one of these motherboards depending on video card preference and setup.
Gigabyte p35-ds3r (for a single card solution)
Gigabyte x38-ds4 (for crossfire)
Evga 780i (for SLI)
--------------------------------------------------Video card options
evga 8800GT 512 if you have anything smaller than a 24" monitor (hay i have one of these for sell also)
Evga 8800GTS512 for 24" monitor or larger.

i agree with veedub completely. however im not sure of the difference between the 8800gt and 8800gts on a 24". my gt handles every game (except crysis, and it does fairly well on it too) at max settings at 1900x1200. although he has owned both cards so i might just take his word for it.

eric1.. rather than that e6750, i think i'd rather put out the extra $40 and get a e8400...

nvm just checked prices i guess they're like $60 more now, its still debatable though...

Nope, you can get the E8400 for 189.99 at microcenter:
