Default p2 am3 vs i7

i know its too early to say but are there any benchmarks out there and whats your views on the P2 AM3

Its 45nm, Quad core, powerful, and a viable cheaper alternative to the Core i7.

Conisdering the fact DDR3 only provides a 5% performance increase; and that is being generous. AM3 chips will have about the same performance as the AM2+ Deneb chips.

At this point the am3 Phenom 2's aren't competitive with i7 at all, they don't even beat the high end Core 2 Quads (Q9650 and q9550).

it's not an alternative to core i7. It's an alternative to core 2 quad.

Nothing beats core i7 in performance right now.

yeah but the am3 p2 has triple channel memory aswell doesnt it?
