dual core GPUs. That's new, isn't it? The 512MB gtx is single core, correct?

Yea the 512GTX is a single core. The only reason this board has 512 is because each core comes w/ 256mb per chip.

There any advantages to dual core GPUs like there are to dual core CPUs? This is the first I've ever heard of this. Just wondering if this is new tech or just something no one has bothered to do because it's a waste of money.

Im guessing a waste of money. The tech has been out since the Voodoo5 5500 (1999) but it was sort of a waste. Nowadays everybody is going bonkers over the SLI and Crossfire solution so dual GPUs are sort of.........well just there.

I'm guessing this will be just like the dual-core CPU thing .. it'll probably only be better with programs written for two cores.

Basically it is 2 SLI'ed 6800GT's, just on one card.... Maybe a tad faster because it doesn't have as far to communicate with eachother as it would if it were 2 seperate cards.
