I put this in a new thread to get some feedback, I did not want the corei7 temps thread to get too far off track.
I am upgrading I can't take it, and I know you guys are right.
So what do you think of these. or have any suggestions?
I have to keep it reasonable.
MSI X58 Platinum
VISTA Home 64
Core i7 920 2.6 stock cooling
3 Gigs DDR3 A-Data 1333
Samsung Sata 2
Super Writemaster
Geforce 9500GT 1 Gig PCI 16X
Raidmax Sagitta
heres what i have again.
the case PSU is a XION 580W pos
and the Geforce 9500GT has to go.
It does seem nuts to have those 2 items on this pc considering the rest of the spec's.

should i grab a new fan and heat sink while im at it?
Anyone had a certain design prove better? this case (Sagitta) has the fan directly across from the cpu in the window so I am wary of a big fan.

I'd definitely recommend the Corsair 750TX, very good quality. GTX260 is also good :)
Btw, when you say Vista Home, is that Basic or Premium?

Premium sorry
Ya i think i am going with the Corsair and EVGA GTX260.
I just want to be sure I get atleast a week before i say "O man i shoulda waited and got this!" lol
I think thats a solid purchase though.

Yeah, looks pretty good :) Vista Premium is ok.
You should to see other people's opinions before ordering, though.

Edit: Are you sure you're going with the stock cooler? I don't know how good the i7 stockHSs are.

OK so what do you guys think? before i click my life away to Newegg :0

Hey waffle what about a new heatsink and fan my concern is the case has the big fan in the window directly across from the cpu so I have to be careful with my size.
Alot of them look like they would iether blow directly onto the Video Card or be too tall and smack dang near into the side fan bracket any knowledge of this?
recommendations ?

OK the final result was this

somebody shoot me now... O why did i join this forum why why why... look what its done to me. lol

almost all heatsinks you can turn so the fan blows air the way you want (obviously aim it for an exhaust case fan)

I dunno about the case side fan...all cases are different. Just measure and see is your best bet. As for the case fan: they are good in some cases but if it's sucking air from the same area your video card is, it'll be bad..it'll conflict with the air flow

Now see theres an example of something i had no idea of.
I have never used one that style that makes sense.. thanks man.
I need to go take a second look here someday but i already ordered so since i don't plan on OC'in this anytime soon It can hold off.. maybe some other options will become available as alot more people start running core i7 too.
I also was thinking about what you said in regards to the slot cooler.
with the GTX260 and that 4 slots away you think it will be beneficial or hinder the air flow?
I ran one under my old 6600GT and since the ambient dropped i figured gtg.. but I never did check the gpu.
