Default Optical

I need a stellar optical drive. It will be used to read CD's and DVD's. I need something that won't be so sensitive to scratches and will plow right through. Doesn't necessarily need writing capabilities but that would be a plus. Right now I have an LG 18x blah blah blah 28.99 at newegg drive for writing(dunno if this info is relevant) and I'm looking for something that can better read non-perfect disks. Thanks in advance.

non perfect disks are impossible to read as the data has either been physically removed through deep scratching or the optical laser gets dispersed by the scratch.

This I know, but some drives will shut down the moment there is a dust particle on the disk. I want something that will go through.

He wants something that will work the best, even if there is a few scratches. I suggest a 20x Lite-on Drive. Very very good for me and cheap.
