Opteron 170 or Athlon X2 3800+

Did a search and couldn't find much as far as a comparison of these two and they seem very similar so hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

These are the only differences I saw between the two:

3800+: HT: 2000MHz L2 Cache: 2x512 kb

Opteron: HT:1000MHz L2 Cache: 2x1MB

I have no idea what either one of those mean and I'm trying to choose between the two processors. Thanks
 
i voted 170, but go for the 165, cheaper, overclockes just about the same, but the 3800+ or the 4400+ will be better if your not overclocking.
 
Thats pretty solid advice, get the 165 and overclock it. otherwise go for the x2
 
I would have to say get a 165 and oc it but out of those choices....i would pick the 170. The extra cache and the ability too oc around FX-60 speeds is very good.
