Yha, I read up on their new quad, but no real release date on the good stuff

Oh is it worth AMD for 64bit?

intel and amd are both 64bit so dont worry about that.

our recommendation of the Intel Q6600 cpu is slightly beating AMD's new Phenom Quad cpu. Baring in mind Intel have a new generation cpu (Penryn) out in January, that appears will easily beat AMD. Another thing to note is Nvidia 680i motherboards is having problems with the new Penryn cpu whereas the P35 and X38 motherboards dont. Hopefully theyll fix it or something.

Okay, using your suggestions, and my local, thus no shipping and easy customer service. I've spec this--->

CHAS ATX TWR 3 5.25 6 3.5 4 FANS --> $121.00
ANTEC NEO HE550 550W POWER SUPPLY ATX12V V2.2 --> $119.00
ASUS SKT775 NVIDIA NF 680I SLI 2PCI/1PCI-E 1X/2PCI-E16X 1066/ 800FSB,4D.DDRII,SATA,GBLAN,ATX --> $219.00
BOXED CORE 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4 2X4M 1066 EM64T S775 --> $299.00
Crucial 2GB KIT DDR2 PC2-6400 DIM BALLISTIX 240-PIN --> $114.00
ASUS EN8800GTS/HTDP/640M, GF 8800GTS,PCI-E,640MB DDR3,256 BIT, DUAL DVI-I,HDTV --> $399.00
Seagate 750GB SATA 3GB 7200 RPM 16MB CACHE 7200.10 NCQ --> $214.00
SUPERMULTI 18X BLACK SATA DVD-RW SATA --> $47.00
WIN XP PRO 1PK SP2B W/UPG CPN --> $187.00

Grand Total of $1705

Yes, it's a GTS, but hey, suppose to be much cooler. Also order the Corsair cooler from NCIX.

Other question, any opinions on the ASUS MB?

Thanks

I'm not a big fan of asus myself. I had the p5k and it was meh, also i hear they have crappy customer service. Try to stick with Abit, evga or gigabyte. Also, the GTS is junk compared to the GT, trust me, i have both. The GT absolutely destroys the GTS. Matter of fact, my GTS is being sent back to eVga for a GT.

edit. Buy vista home premium OEM for 100ish bucks instead of xp pro.

GTS cooler then what? lava

a GT outperforms it and is cheaper, probably cooler. I cant recommend that GTS at this point in time, a new revised GTS is coming out and this hasnt even had a pricecut.

EVGA is a really good brand

I say go for Vista for the DX10.. for all the people saying its not worth it.. dont listen to them. But i would somehow still try to have XP pro on another harddrive. Best of both worlds
