Well 6600s come at 2.4 and my 6400 comes at 2.13, would making that small jump be the same as getting a stock e6600? I know it probably would make almost no temperature change i'm just wondering if doing that will give me an e6600.

Not completely, the frequency will be the same but the e6600 has 4mb of L2 Cache while e6400 has 2mb of L2 Cache.

Just think of it as memory that is closer to the CPU.

Because of this it will be faster to retrive data from the cache then it would be to getting it from the ram which is further away.

Basically, the cache capacity is bigger on the e6600 so it will be able to hold abit more data.

No, you can't add more l2 cache.

I would say that it would not make that much of a difference between the e6400 over clocked and stock e6600.

haha, that's funny about the section cuz i had always planned to post there when i started to OC, not sure why i came back here, and so going to 2.5ghz would be closer to an e6600 in performance. If that won't make a huge heat difference then i'll probably do it.
