Ok now I was wondering whats the difference between an opteron 165 at 2.6ghz and a fx-60? They both seem to have same specs otherwise but I know people are going to say because of the unlocked multiplyer it can oc pretty good but really, is it worth paying 3x the price for a unlocked multiplyer? Ive heard some fx-60 hitting way over 3ghz but I have heard of more 165 hitting 3ghz easy.

well i'm pretty sure a fx60 running the stock hsf runs much cooler, and you don't have to worry about getting high powered ram.. you don't have to buy other thigns to get that 2.6 ghz with the fx60.. and yes, that unlocked multiplyer as well

If you have the 165 at 2.6 ghz with the ram oc'd as well, it will be slightly faster than the fx-60, because of the faster ram. if you use a divider and keep the ram at 200 (and keep ldt close to 1000), it will be the same.

ummm the diffrence is youll be saving 700 dollars with the opty

True Dat :)

An overclocked Opteron 165 will perform exactly like a stock FX-60 (which can't be overclocked much anyways).

So buy three Opty 165's and just replace one when it finally burns out.

You would still come out ahead...
