The X850XT seems to come out on top in some cases with specific settings, but other times not. You can find further benchmarking here.

I would go with this one myself, if I had to choose...

I say this due to having evga now... and other cards by them in the past... a very good company, but I have had some bad luck with their cards... I had to RMA 2 of the 3 I have owned.

pretty much a toss-up to which brand you prefer.

i prefer nvidia, always have used them and never had any problems. but also i only use BFG tech or leadtek. those two companies have never failed me.
and yes i would go with that BFGtech 7600gt that Nukem suggested.
but again its w/e company you prefer, the ATI x850 isnt a bad card either.

I have a Sapphire Radeon x850 XT 256MB, its a nice midrange card - no complaints.

i heard the sapphire radeon x850xt heats up a lot, and also takes an extra slot on the mobo. is it true?

Some games run better on 7600GT, while other games run better on X850XT. So, 7600GT is about equal to X850Xt in performance.

But since 7600GT need less power and is more overclockable. I would go with 7600GT

Also don't forget that 7600GT supports SM3.0, and it is newer.

Yes, it takes up 2 slot spaces. You can avoid the heat issue with an after market cooler, I use an Artic Cooler and mine stays nice and cool!
