These cards are out on the shelf at Best Buy!! I had one in my hands in a Best Buy in Mechanicsburg, PA yesterday. I had to do a big double take, because the 9600 GT OC was cheaper @ $229 than the 8800 GT OC @ $279. From what I read on the boxes, it appeared the 9600 had higher core, shader and memory clocks than the 8800 GT OC !! So which is really the better card?

It still has less stream processors, making it a weaker card. The stock clocks dont matter, since you can oc easily with rivatuner or ati tool.

Also the 9 series probably wil have directx 10.1 support like the 3850's and 3870's right?

yes all 9 series cards will have direct x 10.1 supports, it doesn't provide that much of a diff over direct x 10 though.
