My LCD is going on 4 years now and I am wondering how far they've come today in terms of response time and black levels? My LCD is acceptable, but its nowhere near a CRT in terms of raw image quality, especially in dark games. Here's the trick though, I am wanting a 19" standard ratio LCD that runs at 1280x1024. Do they still make such a monitor and if so, what are my best options?

depends on what panel is being used. My MVA has good color reproduction,viewing angles and contrast ratios. S-IPS panels are better than VA panels all around. Both have slower response times compared to TN but they are the worse of type of panels. VA and S-IPS are 8 bit panels and TN is only 6bit. I would avoid those. S-IPS>VA>TN
