really, so does open box means its used or refurbished? but what if the open box hard drive is DOA, can we still rma them or get a refund?

it means they were returned for whatever reason and never repackaged. I have always wondered the process of which newegg selects items to be open box but I guess it's for orders that are returned becuase of incompatibility or something else.
