It's the older model but it's still rather decent.

Can save a few bucks going with 1600 while there's a promo code and have Corsair.

CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1600C9R (Red) - Newegg.com
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10R - Newegg.com

Team also has some black ones
Team Dark 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TDKED316G1600HC9DC01 - Newegg.com

Faster RAM doesn't make a difference. If you're ok with spending the 82 go for it, just penny pinching for you if you want.

That eVGA PSU is a steal though, good deal there. You're gonna love the rig. You might not be pleased with GPU performance after a while depending on what you're coming from. Also if you're in the DFW area you're more than welcome to come over and we can assemble it if you haven't built before.

I also found a 2TB HDD refurbished for $55. Had hundreds of good reviews.

I currently use a Hp with MSI2AEO board and AMD A8 5600k with 8 gig ram,

So close but so far- Texarkana.

I'm taking compti A+ this semester and was thinking of just bringing it all to the lab and have the instructor oversee it.

To put it quite simply, you get way more single threaded performance from a low end i5 than you do with an FX 8350 even overclocked. Not only that, but you lose out on modern native features like USB3.1, M.2, ect and PCI-E 3. AMD uses 3rd party controllers to add some of these features to their newer boards. An i5 4460 can be had for usually 20 dollars more or the same price as an FX8350 while the motherboards that can support it and anything you want are cheaper than AMD boards with the same amount of features. To make matters worse, Oculus doesn't even officially recommend AMD processors due to significantly lower single threaded performance. All of this just so AMD could try to win the core race and are now being sued because they aren't really 4, 6, and 8 core chips.

That being said, if you already purchased that Asus 990FX board you're a bit screwed and the best CPU you can get is the 8350 because the 9*** variants are simply overclocked versions of the 8350 Vishera.

To be clear, I'm not saying you can't game or video edit with an AMD platform, just if you were buying new parts it makes no sense to go AMD.
Very well put, and I find this useful to know

I wouldn't buy a refurb HDD. They die rather quickly.

Alright so-

I was able to back out of the deal with my friend for his ASUS R9 380 and I purchased the ASUS GTX 970 Strix for $310 with mail in rebate on newegg.com

Also came with a free copy of The Division

eVGA has much better customer support and some Asus cards come with a sticker on one of the back screws making it so you can't take the cooler apart to clean it. eVGA doesn't do this ever.
